Planning, visualization and simulation of acoustic improvement

Noise pollution has negative impact on people’s health and productivity. It is mostly created by loud machinery or noisy work flow. These noises can even be amplified by reflecting surfaces. Using highly sophisticated and specialized software we are able to simulate the local conditions in a 3D-model. By integrating our sound-panels into this model we can show possibilities for acoustic improvement. The software simulates the applied measures and calculates sound values for each part of the building. Hereby we are able to clearly determine the reduction of noise level and change in reverberation when applying acoustic sandwich panels as separation wall, ceiling or enclosure. Basic requirement for such calculations is the profound knowledge of the acoustic values of our different sandwich panels. For this reason, sound absorption- and sound insulation values of our sandwich panels have been tested by well-known European laboratories. Thus, we possess a vast data pool for the whole relevant frequency range.

The perforated sandwich panel with corrosion class RC5

The acoustic sandwich panels from Metecno (Hipertec Wall Sound and Metfiber Eco Wall Sound) can be used outdoors. Our products have been used for over 15 years in outdoor conditions. Yet due to the perforation the corrosion class RC3 of the galvanized steel could not be guaranteed.

To be able to deliver a perforated acoustic sandwich panel with a tested corrosion class RC5 we developed Metecno RC5 high.

With this product we can deliver panels with an improved corrosion resistance, an extended lifespan and enhanced performance even in challenging outdoor environments. Besides our solutions with perforated stainless steel or perforated anodized aluminum we now have a more economical solution.

To prove this, we have done a cyclic ageing test has been performed conform ISO 12944-6 by an independent laboratory (M2lab). The laboratory advised us to do a cyclic ageing test. This cyclic ageing test is closer to reality than a standard salt spray test.

What is the Cyclic Ageing test 12944-6 Annex B?

It consists of 10 cycles, one cycle is:

Identification of the optimal sound insulation

Which source of noise needs to be insulated? Each source has a specific noise spectrum which is mostly determined by either higher or lower frequencies. According this spectrum we search and identify the optimal acoustic solution for your requirements. Metecno Sound has performed more than 100 sound tests in several leading European laboratories. Sound insulation of an acoustic sandwich panel is mostly expressed by the figure Rw. However, this figure has only limited informative value. It can literally be determined by plain calculation, though certain frequencies may not be isolated or considered adequately. For this reason, Metecno Sound uses a highly advanced software (created by a renowned expert developer) to calculate the sound insulation of a sandwich panel or even most complex constructions. Thanks to this software we are able to display transparently different frequencies for finding the optimal solution for your application. Furthermore, we are also able to simulate multi-layered installations, consisting of different building materials.

Calculation of vapor diffusion and condensation

For new production halls it is necessary to determine the reverberation values of the whole building, since too much reverberation may affect the complete hall or certain rooms. An economical solution for this problem are perforated acoustic panels, contributing to a reduction in overall noise level and therefore creating a more quiet and productive work space. When using perforated panels, it is strictly necessary to check the probability of condensation in the wall construction. Condensation is depending on the location of the building as well as on the prevailing indoor climate. High or low humidity in the building? Does the building have mechanical ventilation? How high is the room temperature and is it constant or fluctuating? After years of fundamental and practical research, a renowned German institute has developed a special software for realistic simulation of humidity dispersal within a construction. Metecno Sound uses this software and is happy to check for you whether the application of perforated acoustic sandwich panels is possible for your individual situation to create a healthy and productive working area.

Our solutions for sound protection up to 70dB and more

As global supplier of acoustic sandwich panels, Metecno Sound has performed more than 100 acoustic tests at leading international laboratories. Besides testing our panels, we have also performed several tests for multilayer systems. These consist for example of multiple layers of sandwich panels containing an additional mass (e.g., drywall plates) or additional volume for absorption (e.g., cavities). Results of these measurements are expressed in single figures for comparability reasons. For airborne sound insulation we use the Rw-value, for sound absorption we use the αw-value. These values can be found on our website for a variety of products and applications. When dealing with acoustic problems it is necessary to know the octave- or third-octave band values. To provide a clear survey of our results, Metecno Sound has created an acoustic database. In case the solution for your problem cannot be found in this database we can provide individual calculations for your requirements.
